Born out of struggle, Capoeira was developed by African slaves in Brazil as a way to protect and liberate themselves from oppression. Despite enduring discrimination and hardship, they transformed pain into creativity, faith, and love — preserving their roots and beliefs through
movement, rhythm, and play.
Capoeira is fascinating in a way that is hard to describe — once you allow yourself to experience it, you will never forget it.

About Our School
Our school CAPOEIRA SSC - SINAL DA SANTA CRUZ
was founded on November 16, 2007 in Linz, Austria by Mestre Xuxo.
From the beginning, our philosophy has been to keep the roots of Capoeira alive in every student. We want to show that Capoeira is not only a fight or a dance, but above all, a way of life.
That is why friendship and respect are fundamental values in our school. We aim to teach our students not only the movements, but also the rich history, musicality, and cultural knowledge behind them. In this way, every student can experience and understand the vast and fascinating world of Capoeira more deeply.

Capoeira SSC Graduation Belts
In our school, the graduation belts are much more than just colors – they are symbols of a journey. Each belt reflects the knowledge, time, commitment, competence, progression and love that our capoeiristas bring to the art of Capoeira.
The colors of the belts follow the vibrant palette of the Brazilian flag, reminding us of the roots of Capoeira and the spirit of the culture it carries.
Unlike many other martial arts, our assessment is not about rigid examinations, but about living and embodying the art. Belts are awarded in a special ceremonial event called the Batizado. This celebration is a milestone: it marks each student’s growth, their dedication, and the connection they have built with Capoeira, their peers, and themselves.
At Capoeira SSC, we take pride in guiding our students through this unique process. Every Batizado is a reminder that Capoeira is not only about movements – it is about community, tradition, and a way of life.
Online Classes in Capoeira & Music
Independent of your Capoeira school, Mestre Xuxo supports students worldwide in improving the quality of their movement and musicality. Capoeira includes many styles, foundations, and schools – that’s why it is so important for every capoeirista to expand their vocabulary, so they can adapt whenever necessary.
In his private 1:1 classes (online via Zoom), Mestre Xuxo shares teaching methods rooted in his own Capoeira School SSC, which is dedicated to connecting people, styles, and the rich diversity of Capoeira.
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, you will have the chance to exchange knowledge, refine your practice, and deepen your connection to the Afro-descendant roots of Capoeira.
